The first Digital Media Meetup at Oporto is coming soon!
The very first session of the Digital Media Meetups at Oporto will take place on March 21 (Thursday) at FEUP - Rua Dr. Roberto Frias, 4200-465 , Porto - Sala I -105, Departamento de Engenharia Informática.
Tiago Gama Rocha is leading the first events, with other alumni and students, and the support from the Department of Informatics Engineering of FEUP.
The meetups will happen once a month and will contain presentations by students, alumni and invited speakers.
Rodrigo Carvalho (alumni) is a designer & new media artist. His work on live visuals, coding, and interactive art involves a range of different outputs, from screen digital work, interactive installations, audiovisual live acts, or interactive visuals for stage performance. He has presented work in many events worldwide such as Sonar, Mutek, ISEA, Iminente. He currently teaches at Escola Superior de Media Artes e Design. He is also the visual side of BorisChimp504 and co-founder of Openfield creative lab.
Gustavo Magalhães (alumni) is a researcher in digital media with work at institutions such as the University of Texas at Austin, World Bank Group, Code for America, GovLab, and the Center for Open Data Enterprise. His specialization in open data and digital technologies has taken him around the world to provide expert advice to governments in countries as diverse as Mozambique, Portugal, Ghana, and the State of Palestine.
Mafalda Sousa Guedes (invited speaker) is now a project manager at Shaken Not Stirred, a company she has co-founded which is focused in structuring, funding and implementing innovative projects. Mafalda holds a BSc in Management from UCP and an MSc in Management from Nova SBE. In between studies, she has worked as Consulting Analyst at Deloitte in projects at the retail industry, as Project Manager at Hyperion Energy Investments and as E-marketing Manager at an e-commerce fashion startup for two years. While completing her Masters, she started working as Corporate Relations Manager at Nova SBE and lately at the Marketing Department of Sonae Sierra. In 2017, Mafalda returned to Nova SBE as Head of the Alumni Relations Office in charge of the school’s fundraising campaign with individual donors. Besides community management within the alumni network, Mafalda was responsible for managing and developing the fundraising campaign that in late 2018 was supported by over 1.700 individual donors.
